Tour Details

Departing from Blantyre, riders begin towards the highest peak in the southern region, Mount Mulanje. Where scenic views, waterfalls and rock pools are discovered to refresh and revitalise. Escapade further down the southern tea slopes and vast cultivated plantations to Thyolo where Satemwa’s historically beautiful estate invites you for a step back in tea history, indulge in exquisite tea tasting delicate handcrafted tea flavours and freshly baked cookie, cakes & scones. Further along the back of the escarpment  riders will traverse across  mountain village hills to the lower shire river valley. Channelling across the river marshes to borderless sugar cane fields and countryside crop farms. Finally the rider will reach the southern wildlife reserves & dry savannah bush habitats for  abundant  wildlife sightings. Expect many species of antelope,  monkeys elephants , crocs and various birdwatchers delights. Ending by the peaceful river sounds of the Shire.

Day 1Arrive in Blantyre, Malawi

Be collected from the airport and driven to Blantyre where you will check into your lodge and receive your welcome starter pack of goodies (Maps, route information, sim card & airtime). Pump & prepare your bicycles then enjoy sun downers and a delicious dinner overlooking the hills of Blantyre. Here you will overnight at Leslie Lodge

Leslie Lodge
Located in a quiet street. Newly refurbished with soft touches of wood, charming décor and quaint architecture. Guest’s are surrounded by a luscious courtyard and garden , home to a pair of beautiful duiker. Set amongst an outdoor pool the dinning area inter leading to an honesty bar and cosy lounge serves fine dining dishes alongside the comfort of friendly warm hospitality .En-suite fully furnished rooms with your very own private patio and garden, a fully stocked minibar, WIFI Internet access and DSTV satellite channels and self catering options. Day 2Blantyre - Mulanje Massif

Begin your cycle today via the M4 for 74km to the forest hillsides and tea plantations of Mulanje mountain. Here you will overnight at the Likhubula Forest Lodge.

Optional – Afternoon guided hike to Dziwelankhalamba Falls and Rock Pools ( 2 – 3 hours)

Likhubula Forest Lodge- is an old charming colonial house with en suite rooms and hot showers overlooking the slopes of Mulanje. Nice view with cosy character and intimate hospitality. A peaceful retreat with easy access to hikes on the mountain waterfall and rock pools within walking distance. A tranquil night’s sleep rest in Mulanje.

Day 3Mulanje Massif - Thyolo

Cycle onwards via the M2 for 58km to the tea growing estates of Malawi’s finest tea plantations, forest woodlands and scenic rolling hillsides. Here you will overnight at Huntingdon House

Huntingdon House
Situated on the slopes of Thyolo Mountain surrounded by vast acreage of tea plantations, indigenous woodlands and vast mountainous scenery. This historical building offers old world charm in a magical setting in one of Malawi’s most beautifully preserved regions. Cycle through generations of family owned tea acreage and discover the Satemwa Tea & Coffee estate.

Time permitting – Cycle through the tea estates to the picnic spot, return to enjoy an afternoon tea tasting accompanied by a delectable serving of cookies, cakes and fresh jams on scones. (2pm – 4pm)

Day 4Thyolo - Lengwe National Park

Today motorbike guided support will be provided to navigate you across Thyolo mountain while riding across hillside villages and scenic panoramic views . A backroute downhill descend for (30km ) will lead into the flatland of the Lower Shire River. A boat crossing will be taken over the river, continuing further to cycle (25km) through sugar estates until reaching the gates of Lengwe National Park. Here you will overnight at Nyala Lodge.

Nyala Lodge – Situated overlooking a waterhole, the lodge situated within Lengwe National Park provides comfortable accommodation, dining and relaxing by the rustic bar & restaurant patio. The surrounding nature of precarious wildlife and dry terrain creates a nice seclusion of wildlife sightings and authentic bush atmosphere.

Day 5Lengwe National Park - Majete Wildlife Reserve

Cycle onwards today via the M1 and T416 for 46km to the banks of the mighty Shire river. Here you will overnight at Ngona Lodge.

Ngona Lodge – Ideally located next to the boundaries of the Majete Wildlife Reserve. Here guest can relax and unwind to the sounds of bushlife along the river. With an infinity pool, green camping sites, delux lodging and a la carte restaurant overlooking the Shire waters.

Day 6Majete Wildlife Reserve

After a leisurely morning breakfast. Enjoy two game viewing activities in the Majete Wildlife Reserve. A morning game drive through the woodlands and river trails and an afternoon boat safari encountering pristine wildlife & birding along the banks of the Shire.

Majete Wildlife Reserve: A dense wildlife oasis with prolific species of birds and antelope including elephants, leopards, rhino, buffalo and with the introduction of lions. One of the only parks to see the big five. Visitors can explore the reserve in there own vehicle or on a guided drive on of the safari vehicles accompanied by a professional wildlife guide. Other activities included guided bush walks or bird walks, hiking to the top of Majete Hill, visiting the Kapichiri Falls and game-viewing hides. One of the finest safari parks in Malawi.

Day 7Depart for Blantyre , Malawi

Wake up to the soothing sounds of river and bush. Today is check out and departure to Blantyre. After enjoying breakfast and leisurely time. Your driver will pack your bikes, luggage and take you on a final scenic two hour drive up the valley hills to Blantyre for further travel arrangements or flight departure. A short stop will be made at the arts & crafts traders markets for gift shopping and curio items before parting final farewells.
