Day 1: Blantyre – Majete Wildlife Reserve
Travel by road from Blantyre Airport to wildlife inhabitated Majete Game Reserve. Bordering the Shire river here an abundance of wildlife is prominent from crocs, hippos, roaming elephants and excellent birding. Undertake bicycle preparations then enjoy a peaceful nights sleep to sounds of the wild.
Day 2: Majete – Lengwe National Park
After breakfast cycle for 3 hours and 30 minutes, south wards down the lower Shire valley. Beside the river waters continue into a contrasting scenery of dry forests and dense bush as you enter in the Lengwe National Park. Home to a variety of game and reclusive Nyala antelope. Day 3: Lengwe – Thyolo
Cycle for through the shire highlands for 6 hours passing rows of indigenous wood plains and the Satemwa tea estates where rows of tea bushes spreads for miles across the horizon. Winding off-roads spiralling through lush greenery of Malawian tea plantations. Total cycling distance of 81.2km. Overnight at Chawani Bungalow
Day 4: Thyolo – Mulanje
Cycle eastward for 3 hours and 30 minutes to the base of the expansive Mulanje Massif. Mount Mulanje towers across the sky at a spectacle of 3002m over the region. Offering amazing views of the country’s highest peak. Here you enjoy a restful night at the foothills of the Mulanje slopes. Total cycling distance of. 47.7 Km. Overnight at Kara O’Mula Country Lodge
Day 7: Zomba – Blantyre
After breakfast prepare to catch your early departure boat at 10h30 which will take you across the lake to anchor in Cape Maclear. From here you will be picked up and transferred to Blantyre to catch your flight at Chileka International Airport. END OF TOUR.
Day 6: Phalombe – Zomba Plateau
Cycle north west for 6 hours and 24 minutes through the majestic highlands that stretch up down from the Zomba Plateau. Make your way until the base of the high-rising Plateau.. Here you filled tall towering trees, waterfalls and scenic viewpoints to enjoy the following day. A cycle of 85.2km. Overnight at Pakachere Backpackers.
Day 5: Mulanje – Phalombe
Cycle along the eastern escarpment of Mount Mulanje with breath-taking of the slopes covered with tea plantations. Continue north for 4 hours and 54 minutes cycling until reaching Phalombe situated between distant views of Mt Michisi and Mulanje. Total distance cycled 66.5km Overnight at Diston Lodge.
