Day 1: Blantyre – Zomba Plateau
Travel by road from Blantyre Airport to the base of the Zomba Forest Plateau. Time permitting explore the wood plains winding trails , viewpoints, streams and waterfalls overlooking Zomba. Enjoy a nights rest and prepare for tomorrows cycle. Overnight at Pakachere Backpackers. A friendly meeting place of international and local creatives.
Day 2: Zomba – Liwonde N.P (South)
Cycle north for 5 hours around the Zomba Plateau passing Malosa Mountain towards the south entrance of Liwonde National Park. One of Malawi’s premier wildlife reserves. A wildlife oasis adjacent to the Shire river recently introduced with lions . A total cycling distance of 66.7km. Overnight at Liwonde Safari Camp
Day 2: Liwonde N.P (South) – Liwonde N.P (North)
Cycle north for 3 hours and 47 minutes along Liwonde N.P. across the Shire River to the banks of Mvuu camp. Ideally located in the northern region of Liwonde. Here guest can enjoy various activities from boating, walks , game drives and visits to a nearby village. Overnight at Mvuu Camp. Total cycling distance of 50.1km
Day 3: Liwonde N.P (North) – Mangochi, South Lake Malawi
Cycle north for 6 hours up beside the beginning shoreline of southern lake Malawi for scenic cycle along the lakeside. Make your way until reaching the lakeside resort of Nkopola’s picturesque fishing village. Perched amongst tropical vegetation and beach views for a tranquil rest stop. Overnight Nkopola Lodge Total cycling distance of 80.6km
Day 5: Mangochi – Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi
Cycle north for 3 hours and 48 minutes on wards entering beside the lakeside channel through the jungular gateway of the Cape Maclear Nature Reserve. Continue until reaching Kayak Africa where you board a boat to Domwe island. Boat departs 10h30/15h00. Total cycling distance of 50.9km. Overnight: Domwe island.
Day 6: Domwe Island
Domwe island is an isolated offshore natural oasis of tropical vegetation and sandy clear blue waters. Enjoy water sports such as kayaking , snorkelling & swimming. Explore the island and spend the day discovering this barefoot theme island hideaway. End the evening off to blissful sunset and a beach bbq. Overnight Domwe island.
Day 7: Domwe island – Blantyre
After breakfast prepare to catch you early departure boat at 10h30 which will take you across the lake to anchor in Cape Maclear. From here you will be picked up and transferred to Blantyre to catch your flight at Chileka International Airport. END OF TOUR.
